1099 Ktu drsn BRmqy iPrih nh imlIAY ByKM ] (1099-1)khat darsan bharamtay fireh nah milee-ai bhaykhaN. The followers of the six orders wander and roam around wearing religious robes, but they do not meet God. vrq krih cMdRwiexw sy ikqY n lyKM ] (1099-1)varat karahi chandraa-inaa say kitai na laykhaN. They keep the lunar fasts, but they are of no account. byd pVih sMpUrnw qqu swr n pyKM ] (1099-1)bayd parheh sampoornaa tat saar na paykhaN. Those who read the Vedas in their entirety, still do not see the sublime essence of reality. iqlku kFih iesnwnu kir AMqir kwlyKM ] (1099-2)tilak kadheh isnaan kar antar kaalaykhaN. They apply ceremonial marks to their foreheads, and take cleansing baths, but they are blackened within. ByKI pRBU n lBeI ivxu scI isKM ] (1099-2)bhaykhee parabhoo na labh-ee vin sachee sikhaN. They wear religious robes, but without the True Teachings, God is not found. BUlw mwrig so pvY ijsu Duir msqik lyKM ] (1099-3)bhoolaa maarag so pavai jis Dhur mastak laykhaN. Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl: so invwhU gif jo clwaU n QIAY ] (1099-4)so nivaahoo gad jo chalaa-oo na thee-ai. Pauree: bwhr ByiK n pweIAY pRBu AMqrjwmI ] (1099-7)baahar bhaykh na paa-ee-ai parabh antarjaamee. By wearing religious robes outwardly, God, the Inner-knower is not found. ieksu hir jIau bwhrI sB iPrY inkwmI ] (1099-7)ikas har jee-o baahree sabh firai nikaamee. Without the One Dear Lord, all wander around aimlessly. mnu rqw kutMb isau inq grib iPrwmI ] (1099-8)man rataa kutamb si-o nit garab firaamee. Their minds are imbued with attachment to family, and so they continually wander around, puffed up with pride. iPrih gumwnI jg mih ikAw grbih dwmI ] (1099-8)fireh gumaanee jag meh ki-aa garbeh daamee. The arrogant wander around the world; why are they so proud of their wealth? clidAw nwil n cleI iKn jwie iblwmI ] (1099-9)chaldi-aa naal na chal-ee khin jaa-ay bilaamee. Their wealth shall not go with them when they depart; in an instant, it is gone. ibcrdy iPrih sMswr mih hir jI hukwmI ] (1099-9)bicharday fireh sansaar meh har jee hukaamee. They wander around in the world, according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command. krmu Kulw guru pwieAw hir imilAw suAwmI ] (1099-10)karam khulaa gur paa-i-aa har mili-aa su-aamee. When one's karma is activated, one finds the Guru, and through Him, the Lord and Master is found. jo jnu hir kw syvko hir iqs kI kwmI ]14] (1099-10)jo jan har kaa sayvko har tis kee kaamee. ||14|| That humble being, who serves the Lord, has his affairs resolved by the Lord. ||14|| fKxy mÚ 5 ] (1099-11)dakh-nay mehlaa 5. Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl: muKhu Alwey hB mrxu pCwxMdo koie ] (1099-11)mukhahu alaa-ay habh maran pachhaanado ko-ay. All speak with their mouths, but rare are those one who realize death. nwnk iqnw Kwku ijnw XkInw ihk isau ]1] (1099-11)naanak tinaa khaak jinaa yakeenaa hik si-o. ||1|| Nanak is the dust of the feet of those who have faith in the One Lord. ||1|| mÚ 5 ] (1099-12)mehlaa 5. Fifth Mehl: jwxu vsMdo mMiJ pCwxU ko hykVo ] (1099-12)jaan vasando manjh pachhaanoo ko haykrho. Know that He dwells within all; rare are those who realize this. qY qin pVdw nwih nwnk jY guru ByitAw ]2] (1099-12)tai tan parh-daa naahi naanak jai gur bhayti-aa. ||2|| There is no obscuring veil on the body of that one, O Nanak, who meets the Guru. ||2|| mÚ 5 ] (1099-13)mehlaa 5. Fifth Mehl: mqVI kWFku Awh pwv DovMdo pIvsw ] (1099-13)mat-rhee kaaNdhak aah paav Dhovando peevsaa. I drink in the water which has washed the feet of those who share the Teachings. mU qin pRymu AQwh psx kU scw DxI ]3] (1099-13)moo tan paraym athaah pasan koo sachaa Dhanee. ||3|| My body is filled with infinite love to see my True Master. ||3|| pauVI ] (1099-13)pa-orhee. Pauree: inrBau nwmu ivswirAw nwil mwieAw rcw ] (1099-14)nirbha-o naam visaari-aa naal maa-i-aa rachaa. Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Fearless Lord, he becomes attached to Maya. AwvY jwie BvweIAY bhu jonI ncw ] (1099-14)aavai jaa-ay bhavaa-ee-ai baho jonee nachaa. He comes and goes, and wanders, dancing in countless incarnations. bcnu kry qY iKsik jwie boly sBu kcw ] (1099-14)bachan karay tai khisak jaa-ay bolay sabh kachaa. He gives his word, but then backs out. All that he says is false. AMdrhu QoQw kUiVAwru kUVI sB Kcw ] (1099-15)andrahu thothaa koorhi-aar koorhee sabh khachaa. The false person is hollow within; he is totally engrossed in falsehood. vYru kry inrvYr nwil JUTy lwlcw ] (1099-15)vair karay nirvair naal jhoothay laalchaa. He tries to take vengeance upon the Lord, who bears no vengeance; such a person is trapped by falsehood and greed. mwirAw scY pwiqswih vyiK Duir krmcw ] (1099-16)maari-aa sachai paatisaah vaykh Dhur karamchaa. The True King, the Primal Lord God, kills him when He sees what he has done. jmdUqI hY hyirAw duK hI mih pcw ] (1099-16)jamdootee hai hayri-aa dukh hee meh pachaa. The Messenger of Death sees him, and he rots away in pain. hoAw qpwvsu Drm kw nwnk dir scw ]15] (1099-16)ho-aa tapaavas Dharam kaa naanak dar sachaa. ||15|| Even-handed justice is administered, O Nanak, in the Court of the True Lord. ||15|| fKxy mÚ 5 ] (1099-17)dakh-nay mehlaa 5. Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl: prBwqy pRB nwmu jip gur ky crx iDAwie ] (1099-17)parbhaatay parabh naam jap gur kay charan Dhi-aa-ay. In the early hours of the morning, chant the Name of God, and meditate on the Feet of the Guru. jnm mrx mlu auqrY scy ky gux gwie ]1] (1099-18)janam maran mal utrai sachay kay gun gaa-ay. ||1|| The filth of birth and death is erased, singing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. ||1|| mÚ 5 ] (1099-18)mehlaa 5. Fifth Mehl: dyh AMDwrI AMDu suM\I nwm ivhUxIAw ] (1099-18)dayh anDhaaree anDh sunjee naam vihoonee-aa. The body is dark, blind and empty, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord. nwnk sPl jnµmu jY Git vuTw scu DxI ]2] (1099-19)naanak safal jannam jai ghat vuthaa sach Dhanee. ||2|| O Nanak, fruitful is the birth of one, within whose heart the True Master dwells. ||2|| mÚ 5 ] (1099-19)mehlaa 5.
